KT apples local distributed celebrated the launch of the latest Apple phone with a count-down, along with performances and raffles at his headquarters in downtown Seoul.
More than 40,000 people were expected to receive the iPhone 4 by next week, according to KT Corp., the exclusive local distributor of the phones.
In total, around 300,000 have already signed on with KT to receive the phones.
There was no decrease in people even though there was much hyped talk about some of the iPhone 4 critical flaws.
Apple has sold more than 850,000 units of its previous model ― iPhone 3 ― through KT since its debut here in November last year.
The total number of Korean users of Android phones surpassed 1.15 million this month, industry sources reported.
Here we can expect a stiff competition from the local electronic manufacturer Samsung Electronics with it's aggressive android phone line up, and the hotseller Galaxy S
In Korea, sales of the Galaxy S have topped 700,000 as of Aug. 9, the company said.
Samsung has aggressively marketed the Galaxy S, particularly in the corporate sector.
On Friday, it said it released a pink model of the Galaxy S smartphone here to attract female consumers and younger users.
Samsung’s smartphones will now be available in pink, black and white.
