Carriers are blaming Apple for the missing feature, and spokespersons from both Etisalat and Vodafone say they're speaking to apple about reinstating FaceTime post-haste; It was reportedly advertised on Middle Eastern versions of Apple's iPhone website until around September 20th, when all references to FaceTime were removed.

TUAW reports that some UAE denizens have actually tested FaceTime on phones bought abroad and found it working just fine, but that the functionality disappears after installing the local version of the iOS 4.1 update.

Apple tries to patent new camera flash technology

This patent work might be seen in future apple products. Here it is how it works, We know that camera flashes are typically fixed in a single spot on a device, Apple's attempting to patent a flash redirector that could whip them around, letting you frame a dimly-lit picture the way you want and automatically adjust the intensity and direction of the flash to get better results.

Apple gets patent for handheld capacitive sensor device.

The new patent joining the apple's intellectual property is Hand-held capacitive sensor device.

The handheld device uses capacitive sensors to recognize your identity just by the way you hold it, and subsequently personalize the device's buttons and settings to your hand based on your user profile.

The other thing you could grip a handheld with either hand, and it would automatically generate "button zones" under each finger using sensors (or disappearing buttons, perhaps) baked right into the chassis, making cries of "you're holding it wrong" hopefully fade into obscurity.

The new iPod touch: Practically a smartphone

(IANS) Apple has reloaded the iPod. The world's most watched gadget maker can now legitimately claim that the new version of the iPod touch is more than just an MP3 player.

Most notably, the device now includes the "Face Time" video conferencing service, allowing users to telephone over the internet.

The iPod touch, the flagship of Apple's MP3 player line, always looked similar to an iPhone. All that was missing was the cellular service component. The fourth generation of the music player, now hitting the market, remains something less than a full-featured smartphone, yet now it too can use the internet to make phone calls.

Apple TV to be powered by iOS, jailbreaking depends......

Deep within the USB device configuration list for the latest iOS 4.2 beta 1 is an iProd 2,1 descriptor that links to an entry for the AppleTV2,1.

The AppleTV2,1 key refers to the second hardware revision of the Apple’s digital media device which was announced at Apple’s Fall 2010 event. Not only does this identify the mystery device as the new Apple TV, it also confirms that the streaming device is powered by Apple’s mobile OS, not the propriety Mac OS X of the original Apple TV.

It is possible that iOS for the Apple TV shares the same vulnerabilities as its iPhone and iPod touch counterparts.

Assuming there is enough on-board storage available on the Apple TV, the Apple hacking community could jailbreak this device and enable support for applications.

Even after Rules relaxation, FTC to continue Investigation

Despite the recent policy changes, Wall Street Journal is reporting that the FTC will continue to carefully scrutinize Apple’s actions despite its loosened policy towards third-party iOS compilers.

The FTC took up the case in April when Apple announced its new terms of service for iOS 4 and included the now fateful statement:

only code written in C, C++, and Objective-C may compile and directly link against the Documented APIs (e.g., Applications that link to Documented APIs through an intermediary translation or compatibility layer or tool are prohibited)

The main corporate and the big loser was Adobe. Since its newly launched Flash Professional Creative Suite 5 contained a dedicated packager for the iPhone that was now prohibited by Apple’s TOS. After Anti-Flash policy by Steve Jobs Adobe responded by suspending development on both this Packager application and Flash for the iPhone.

Google Voice Action for iPhone Most Likely to get nod for App Store.

Sean Kovacs, developer of GV Mobile, was encouraged by Apple to resubmit his application to the app store.

According to Kovacs, the new rules and terms for the app approval process showed no signs of keeping his GV Mobile app from getting approved.

Additionally, Kovacs said that he would work on making the app free, and that he was working with Apple to get GV Mobile back under its original name so he wouldn’t have to call it anything else.

Adobe starts working on apple platform.

Apple apps relaxation rules made a hell lot of change around the developer and the most to gain is Adobe's Flash.  Adobe announced Friday that it would resume development on Flash for the iPhone.

Adobe "will now resume development work" on its Packager for iPhone for future releases, Adobe wrote in a blog post. The feature is part of the Flash Professional CS5 authoring tool.

In April, Adobe announced that it would no longer invest in iPhone-based Flash development after Apple banned private APIs and required apps to be written in Objective-C, C, C++, or JavaScript as executed by the iPhone OS WebKit engine.

"Essentially, this has the effect of restricting applications built with a number of technologies, including Unity, Titanium, MonoTouch, and Flash CS5," Adobe principal product manager Mike Chambers said at the time. "While it appears that Apple may selectively enforce the terms, it is our belief that Apple will enforce those terms as they apply to content created with Flash CS5."

After expanding Exclusivity thing, Apple could sell 28M iPads in 2011

After refreshed Apple Gadget line up with the new iPod nano and iOS updates that too before the beginning of the biggest holiday season for the year. Apple could sell 28 million iPad tablets in 2011, according to an analyst at the UBS Investment Research.

"we believe could still be conservative," according to Maynard Um, an analyst at the UBS Investment Research.

There is no evidence that iPad purchases are affecting Mac sales, but the popular tablet has been "adversely impacting" PC sales, specifically notebook PCs, Um wrote, prompting many of them to launch iPad competitors. There will not likely be any "viable threats" to the iPad "for some time," however.

"We believe that a majority of this impact is occurring on the lower end of PC sales as the iPad is priced close enough to this range that it becomes attractive to consumers looking to make purchases within this segment," he wrote.

Apple encouraging new developers, offers App-Making Guidance.

Apple Inc., has said that it will begin relaxing restrictions for application developers and will provide guidance for the existing and new application developers, but at the same time it said that doesn't mean that the selection process will get any easier.

Recently Apple had been criticized by parents since the iPhone used by their children can gain access to unhealthy content for the children via its apps store.

The guidelines say, among many other things, that hastily-assembled code, pornography, any video game identifying enemies as a specific race or ethnicity, or "mean-spirited applications" will be rejected.
