Under "Leaders on iPad" initiative, Greenfield-Central school district purchased around 80 iPad funded by Federal Communications Commission program.
Money for the devices comes from grants the school district received in 2009 and 2010 from the Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Services Fun, which helps schools and libraries obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet access.
School officials said they initially envisioned using iPads to track skills students have mastered. But first-grade teacher Greg Vogel told the Daily Reporter that the devices have become valuable instructional tools and can even provide an incentive for good behavior. Recently Greenfield-Central school board had a paperless meeting was with the help of an iPad app.
